Years ago, I approved a deal for a customer. To fund his deal we needed him to provide proof of income and five references. We gave him his stips and scheduled him to pick up his car around 4:00 p.m. the next day. Four o’clock came and went. By 8:00 p.m. we still hadn’t seen him. Then, just about closing time, he showed up and apologized for being late. He explained that he couldn't find his fifth reference and when he did he could barely get him in the car. Yes, that’s right—he literally brought the five references with him.
