Cash in Hand … Almost
On a Saturday afternoon, a salesperson closed a deal with a customer; however, the customer was not willing to take her new truck home. She stated she was paying cash, had worked the salesperson on the price and committed to buy, but she wanted to come pick it up on Monday.
I asked the salesperson why, and didn’t get a reason. Then it’s time for the turnover. I go out, thank her for the business and question why she didn't want to take delivery. She told me she will not have her money until Monday. I tried to convert, but no dice. She said she was paying cash. So I tell her, we understand and will transfer funds, so she can take the truck. Her response was no, she wasn’t not transferring funds. Ok. So I asked if she had a CD that cashed on Monday. No. Finally, I ask, “Ms. Customer, where is the money coming from?”
Her response: “I am winning the lottery tonight.” She was serious. Then, I asked her for the numbers, and she was a bit insulted. When I asked her how she knew she would win, she said, “God told me.” On Monday, she didn't make her appointment.
